How fast do essential oils work

Have you ever wondered how essential oils work? If so, you are not alone!
When I first heard of essential oils, I had no idea what they were, how to use them, or what they did. I have learned so much since then, and I continue to learn every day.

If you are just wanting to know the basics on how fast essential oils work, let me explain a bit below.

Within 22 seconds, the molecules reach the brain. This is thanks to your olfactory system that talks directly to your brain. So each time you breathe in essential oil from the bottle, a diffuser, or even off your skin, your olfactory system is carrying those molecules to your brain within 22 seconds. This is the best way to affect your mood since the emotional section in your brain (amygdala) is directly impacted by the olfactory nerves.

In just 2 minutes, you can find the molecules in the bloodstream. Essential oils can be rapidly absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream when used topically. Since essential oils are oil-based, just like our cells in our body, they can easily penetrate the cell membrane and be seen in our bloodstream working fast with our bodies. This is just one of the great benefits of using essential oils over modern medicine. Most modern medicines are water-based, which means they CANNOT breakthrough that cell membrane and work directly with cells as essential oils can.

After 20 minutes, those molecules will affect every cell in the body. Once essential oils have reached your bloodstream, word travels fast. They start moving throughout your whole body, and within no time, they can be found affecting every single cell. This is yet another reason why they are so effective. Not only can they work well with our oil-based bodies, but because they travel so quickly, the amount of time it takes to feel them working is literally in no time. I am still amazed to this day at how fast I can get relief with just one drop of essential oil.
