Have you heard? Vanilla is finally here!
One of the most frequently asked questions I get is if I carry vanilla essential oil. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as vanilla essential oil due to the extraction methods used on vanilla. That being said, let me go into a little more detail, and don’t worry, there is a way to get a form of vanilla in your home and enjoy some sweet vanilla diffuser blends.
There are three different forms of vanilla, and some low-quality oil brands might even market them as an essential oil. However, vanilla can’t be an essential oil due to the nature of its plant parts and extraction method limitations. The International Organization for Standardization has ruled that essential oils must be derived from natural materials and extracted through either steam distillation or dry distillation. Since neither of those methods is possible for vanilla, it can only be classified as a fragrance oil, extract, or absolute. Vanilla absolutes are the closest thing to essential oils in terms of use and benefits.
Most vanilla absolutes are not intended for internal use because of the extraction methods used. However, if you know doTERRA, you know they do not do anything that is not pure. So, meet their new pure Madagascar Vanilla absolute with an aroma that speaks for itself!
I won’t delay you any longer so, here are some diffuser blends that incorporate vanilla absolute to make some heavenly aromas throughout your home. Be sure to scroll down past the diffuser blends as well as I give you a way to use this pure absolute internally.
Now that you have some vanilla diffuser blends to keep your home smelling sweet, let’s talk about a way we can incorporate doTERRA’s Vanilla absolute into a recipe that is sure to please your taste buds.
Please note, this is very important! When I talk about this recipe and using vanilla absolute in this manner, I am ONLY referring to doTERRA’s Madagascar Vanilla and no other brands. I cannot be sure the other brands are pure and safe to consume internally.
Now that we got that out of the way, and you understand this is specific to doTERRA Madagascar Vanilla absolute, let’s talk about a yummy recipe. Peppermint Brownies are a go-to recipe for me during any get-together or essential oil class I host. They are loved by everyone and are super easy to make. The recipe is up on my blog, but you will notice it calls for 1 tablespoon vanilla. I am referring to vanilla extract, but we can substitute doTERRA’s Madagascar Vanilla for the vanilla extract. Remember, oils and absolutes are much stronger and potent than herbs or extracts so, we need to use much less.
Recommended substitution:
1 teaspoon extract = 1-2 drops of Madagascar Vanilla
1 tablespoon extract = 2-4 drops of Madagascar Vanilla
I know you got a little more than you bargained for here. You came for some diffuser blends, and you are leaving with some knowledge on vanilla, those vanilla diffuser blends you came for, and a sweet recipe to try out soon. I hope you enjoyed your time here with me on O Natural Corner, and I hope to see you back soon.
